Coban Rais - The Rais Waterfall & Flower Garden

One of the tourist attractions that are trend in social media is Coban Rais. Coban Rais Waterfall is located in Oro-oro Ombo village, Batu City, East Java. About 25 km from Malang city or 100 km from Surabaya city.

What makes Coban Rais become a hits?

This tourist spot opened to the public on 10 December 2016 and since then the number of tourists visiting increased.
 
For those who do not know, definitely think Coban Rais is the same as other Waterfall locations. It could be so ... but with there are several locations of beautiful photos with rare rides can make your selfie photos become interesting and worthy of display at social media. 

History 
Coban means Waterfall. If the sunda people say Curug. Coban Rais originally named Coban Sabrangan, because many dozens of rivers that must be crossed to get to the waterfall.

 

 Flying Hammock

Actually this Coban Rais has long existed, but lately became crowded among young people after created a new area called Batu Flower Garden specifically to take pictures of selfie with beautiful scenery.

 

Photo spot

There are several selfie spots with titles such as I Love U, Love, Flower Hill, Pinus (pine tree), Ayunan  (Swing over the cliff), Hammock Garden, Hammock Tower, Flying hammock, Gowes Air (Cycling bikes over the air), Spider hammock.

Each spot has its own uniqueness and some spots require high courage.

If you enter the hammock camp, you will see a variety of hammocks, ranging from flying hammocks, hammock spiders, hammock towers. 

Hammock Camp

Flying hammock is no different from flying fox, one small difference is using hammock. When sitting on a flying hammock it feels like a stork carrying baby. 

Hammock spiders are the arrangement of several hammocks that resemble spiderwebs.

Hammock towers are some vertically arranged hammocks that resemble towers, It takes courage to climb higher hammocks.

Usually paired guests always choose the spot Love or I Love U, A romantic spot.

There are two spots that induce an adrenaline rush, but not extreme sport. There are Ayunan  (Swing over the cliff) and Gowes Air (Cycling bikes over the air).





  

The location of Ayunan (the swing in the air) will give you the best photo results, but you should really have the guts to do it. Because you seem to be swinging in the air, when you look down, you will see the bottom of the cliff and the stream

Gowes means pedaling a bicycle.  But Gowes Air does not mean pedaling a bike in the water, but in the air. So Gowes Air means Cycling bikes over the air.
 

 

Pinus

One of the interesting spots is pine, a platform placed on a pine tree. When photographed from above, you'll get a romantic sessions with beautiful scenery.

Admission Price Coban Rais area for Rp  10.000. As for the Flower Garden of Rp 25.000.

Entrance to Flower Garden will get free photos in 2 spots. Two free spots can be selected freely, but only for certain spots.

If you want to be photographed in another spot, then you have to pay additional fees.

There is an additional charge when you bring your own DSLR camera or action camera such as GoPro, etc.














Way To Go 
Because the location of the flower garden is in eastern Java, you can go to Surabaya City or directly to Malang City.

• Via Surabaya City

• If you use air transportation, then you will land at Juanda airport.
• From Juanda Airport, you can choose  Car Travel / Shuttle to Malang City. The trip to malang takes about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Usually weekend and peak season traffic is more dense, so the trip is longer.... or you can say, a way longer. 
• If you plan on using a travel car, you should either leave with the group or take other passengers to ride together. Otherwise you will waste a long time at the airport waiting for the vehicle to be full of passengers.
• From Juanda airport, you can also use Damri Shuttle Bus to Bungurasih / Purabaya Bus Terminal. Then use Inter-city Bus to Malang city. From the Arjosari bus terminal the journey continues to the Batu city by public transport.

• If you want to avoid congestion on the journey surabaya to malang city, the train can be an option. But still have to use public transportation to the Batu City.

•  Directly to Malang City

• If you use air transportation, then you will land at Abdul Rachman Airport.
• You must use the taxi to downtown. And then continue to Batu City

 Suggestions for travelers

• From Batu city center, the most interesting and beautiful route is to depart from Museum of Angkut, Batu. There is only one path and it is impossible to stray. Trip up and down with beautiful scenery. Through the beautiful Amarta Hills Hotel and Resort.
• Keep in mind that Coban Rais and Flower Garden locations are outdoor. Better to leave early in the morning because it is still cold and the sun is not hot yet. Do not forget to bring an umbrella or raincoat, and sunblock lotion if needed.
• If crowded, photo shoot sessions a bit longer because they have to queue. That is one reason to leave early in the morning.
• If the event in the coban rais & flower garden are done during the day, you can continue the tour to the museum transport until late afternoon and then continue to the Batu Night Spectacular (BNS).
